Prof. C. N. Walpita

Prof. C N Walpita is a highly accomplished biologist and aquaculture expert with a strong thyroid hormone research and developmental biology background. He holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Catholic University of Leuven), Belgium, where he studied the influence of Thyroid Hormones on embryonic development using zebrafish as a teleost model. His research involved gene knock-down, gene expression analysis, and hormone and deiodinase enzyme assays.

With a Master's degree in Aquaculture from Ghent University, Belgium, Prof. Walpita gained recognition as the year's top student, excelling in research on thyroid hormone production and peripheral deiodination in the Nile tilapia. He further expanded his expertise in aquaculture through international training programs and diploma courses.
